Default Does a cam make a car louder??

Just like the title. I just put a set of LT's on and an ORY and DAMN my car is loud. It sounds like a milk truck with no muffler until I floor it and then it sounds good. I really wish it was a little quieter just cruising around. I have a TSP 224R cam that I am getting installed within the next 2-3 weeks. I was just wondering if it is going to be even louder?

My little TR220 cam made my car noticeably louder, even at idle.

Put cats on it and you will be happy

My B1 seemed to make the car louder.

I am anti-cat. Just run a full plate in your Borla setup, as posted in the other thread. You can make one if you can't buy it....

Did any of you guys have LT's and an ORY before you had cam's? If so do you know what I mean when I am explaining how the car sounds just driving "normal"? My car just sounds like my muffler fell off when I am just ruising around. But when I floor it it sounds very good. Will a cam help with the "sloppy" sound and normal revs?

The sloppy sound will go away if you run it through the muffler. It's an easy fix, really Plates are easy to make if you don't have them.

Its has also been my experience that in addition to the avove comments the valve train noise also increases significantly with a aftermarket performance LS1 cam!

Very true. The more aggressive the lobes and the bigger the cam, the more valvetrain noise you'll have. Bothers some people and not others. I really only notice mine when I'm beside a wall with the window rolled down (like in a drive thru.)

Went from C1 to TSP231.237 and found that the cam alone made a deeper tone.

99, you'll find that the chop from the 224 cam will enhance the milktruck sound for the better.

I found the bigger the cam the louder the car is and the interior noise went up.I run the SLP dual dual in the non-race season and the muffler sounds like it's ready to blow open at WOT.
