what kind of springs were required?

you results are awesome! I'm installing an X1 on a stock head LS6 in about a week. Looking forward to it.

I stuck with the 918's, although I'd feel a little safer with double springs. I believe MTI uses the double springs on their X1 installs. Please post up some numbers for your X1, as I'm dying to know what it would do with stock LS6 heads.

No headwork, stock driveshaft, steel flywheel, stock rear, and plenty of witnesses. Meet me up at Scott's shop when I come up, and you can check it out firsthand

Those are awsome numbers! This is making me re-think getting the TR224 which after about 2 months of digging through cam post I decided I wantted to get. I was wantting to know if you were still on stock tunning , well beside the 6800 rev limiter have you changed anything else? would you recomend this cam for a daily driver?
thanks , justin

i got my dyno tuned numbers finally. they were 360 rwhp, 438 rwtq. the highest i saw was 363rwhp, 465 rwtq. but it was still a bit lean. ill post the graph in another thread after i get it up.

p.s. this is through an un-locked verter. after i get rid of the POS yank, ill have locked numbers.

Rob - Those torque numbers are insane Keep us updated.
98 Tran - I am still on my 224 tuning. It runs pretty good now, but maybe a couple more could be had with an update. As far as a daily driver cam, I would say with 3.73's or 4.10's it would be great. I get a good bit of surging at very low rpms while cruising, but I'm still on 3.42s.

disregard the torque numbers. they are converter spikes. ive been recently updated on how to dyno a car with a stall converter and ill have new numbers next week.

so your car idles better with a bigger cam? i have a comp 224 cam and dont like the way it drives at low rpms- it likes to die out a bit. maybe bigger cam when i do the heads?

Mine hasn't died out yet, and I have been testing it. It does not like to cruise in 6th at 1300 rpms though. Just a hair more surging than the TR224 at low speeds.

LOnSlo, i responded to your PM. I wanted to say that your current cam choice should compliment your LS6 heads nicely. I would have chosen same specs for your combination. Do you have LS1 edit tuning? It is the answer to any and all mods especially larger cams, nice power for stock heads, how about track times?
P.S. I just ran 918 springs to 6800 with no issues several times, granted my custom grind cam is not as lobe intense as XE and XER lobes but my lift is .585" with about 224*@.050" and 276 on seat.

Thanks for replying Jeff, sent you mail. The tracks over here don't open until the 25th, so we'll see what, if any, gains can come out of it.

I was there when LOnSLO, Ryan dyno'ed his car. I know he said he was disapointed a little with his #'s but it looked pretty sweet to me!! Course I was there with my stock 02 and when your at 327 & 334, 400 plus looks damn good! Ryan.

Finally got to take her down to the track. Conditions were practically the same as my best TR224 run. New best run vs old best run:
F1 TR224
2.02 60' 1.95 60'
7.88 1/8mi ?1/8mi
12.02 1/4mi 12.19 1/4mi
119.88mph 116.6mph

So, there wasn't the 11's that I had hoped for. Couldn't get the Nittos to hook for ****, especially after the rice fest moved in. Car got slower as the day got longer, but managed to pull off several runs in the 12.0X area. Basically, with just the cam swap only, I gained over 3 mph, and close to 2 tenths. I'm sold
