Cam Bearings
From what I have seen with my motor and others is that the front cam bearings wear exessivly to begin with.
Are you sure you induced the scratch??
You could replace the 1st one in the car but the 2nd, I do not think so but I could be wrong. I always did cam bears from bottom up and the engine/rotating assembly had been out of the block and out of car.

I dont think I scratched it and there wasnt any damage on the cam that I could see but then again this is my first cam swap so I could have scratched it taking it out. It isnt really a scratch either it more of a scuff. Hopefully ill be able to get a good picture of it
As weird as it sounds, I've taken some emery paper and knocked the sharp edge off a nicked bearing. To this day, the car's still running great (25k later)
Post up pics just to make sure.
If you've tried reinstalling the cam, does it glide in easily? If any force is required it definitely needs to be replaced.
Is the second bearing better or worse than this one?

That same bearing I messed up pulling the old cam out so it had to go (I got it good too, yours looks awesome compared to mine). Did not pull the motor, Did not drop the tranny, Didn't even have to buy that $200 wonder tool that seems to be no-******-where in all of Phoenix, Lol.
I went to Harbor Freight and bought their bearing driver kit ($25). The size you need is 59mm. Take the Top Valley Cover off (have to disconnect the 2 knock sensors first). Once you do this there is an opening in the block directly above that bearing. You can get a finger down behind on the other side of the bearing. You'll want a friend for this part. Have someone drive the bearing slowly into the block (I Know, ****** scary) and just hold onto it until its free. Rotate it 90 degrees and just pull it up through the opening in the block. That bearing is soft enough that it will pull through without tearing the block up.
Then I drank a beer. Easy.
