Default Is this normal for a cammed car?

So just got the car cammed and now it occasionally dies while im driving around, is this normal? is it so called "cam surge"? or something that needs to be addressed in a tune?

Yes, when you change the cam, you need a tune.

Definitely need a tune if you changed the cam.

Yeah, have them street tune it or bring it to another tuner. It dies while you're in gear?

Sounds like it may need a tad more idle rpms. I'm no tuner though but my car needed some bump in idle rpms bc it would die coming to a stop. Upped the idle by about 100 and it hasn't done it since.

Sounds like a minor tweak is required. IF you dont touch the WOT spark/fuel tables the average monkey with a laptop and a wideband can dial in their driveability, as most needs to log data and seat time and start messing with the settings.

IF you just want a tweak, contact the old tuner or find a new one.

More than likely the problem lies in your tune. It often times takes a little work to dial things in perfectly. I had a little surging too however took it back to the shop and haven't had a problem since.

Also to add a tune for Bolt ons per say is not the same tune for a cam. They tune maybe right for what it was tuned for but when you add a "Cranky" cam, you need to adj accordingly.

alright it was re-dyno tuned and now it doesnt die. it normally idles at 800rpms but randomly coming to a light it will drop all the way down to 200 and the lights will dim like its going to die, it will then rev itself back up and drop again to 200 before finally coming back up to its 800 idle...

I need to find a new tuner dont I?

Car is running too rich. Had the same issue with my wife's car after a cam and finally quit being lazy and got the O2 bunge welded in and hooked up the wideband. Coming to a stop the commanded AFR was where it was supposed to be but the actual AFR was down around 10.9. Basically it was just struggling to run past how rich the idle was. At WOT on the dyno AFR was right at about 12.7 also.
