Default cam help

here is the deal im about to install a ms4 cam in my buddies car and i want to still be quicker, so i am looking at upgrading my cam.

i have a 99 ta stock heads, tsp 228r cam with all supporting mods, longtubes with full exhaust, ls6 intake, a4 with 3600 stall but i am thinking about swapping to a th350 with 4000 converter and 3.23 gear (have not changed since i may go with the th350) and the car with be on a 150 hit. but i want a max effort cam it is not my dd by any means its just a race car.

the cams i have come up with are:
trex 242/248 608/612 110
vindicator 240/244 605/596 112
tr raptr 236/242 615/615 111
esp 236/248 615/615 110

bigger isnt always better, id drive it the way it is until you get all of its potential out. Just my .02.

All those cams are good candidates. If you really care though you will go with a custom spec for your type of gearing/stall you are going to run with.

i have not because i may put a 350 turbo in the car, i said it is not my dd but i do drive the car. and i have the 228r cam already sold was never that impressed with the cam so i want a bigger one.

i have also found a set of stock ls2 heads off a gto would they be worth upgrading to

I say custom. Also look into getting a set of heads.

change the gears in the rear to a 373 or 390. if ur going to a th350 with that kind of cam, there is no point in gearing the car for the highway, its not gunna be somethin to take on a road trip. plus a 4000 stall with those high gears wont be much better on the highway than the low gears b/c anytime u go up a hill ur gunna be turning 3000+ rpm's, no lockup. or put in a level 2 4l60 if u dont want it to be a race car, cant have both. its really not that bad cruising at 55 on short trips, i have a th400 5200 stall 390 gears and drive it to work everyday!

i might go to a 3.73 gear or keep the a4 and go 4.10. i am not to worried about keeping it a trip car i have other cars i can carry but i am still going to drive the car to the track some and out to eat also an do some street racing with the car.

i have found some pull off ls2 heads off a gto how much would those heads pick me up and no they are not ported

Those heads would probably be comparable to a set of stock 243's +/- a couple rwhp/rwtq. Depends on the application its going on with the cam its going to be paired with.
