Default Cam or spray?

Just wanting some opinions here as to which way to go. Car is a 2000 SS w/ around 74k miles stock internals. If I cam i would want to go with a VRX3 from Vengeance Racing and as far as the spray I was looking into either a NOS or NX LS1 specific wet kit. I'm kinda on a budget and I know that I can't get out of a cam what i could spray but honestly backfire scares the SH*T outta me haha! This car is my DD and really my only means of transportation so I would really be pretty F'd if I had to replace the motor. For the cam setup I'm looking at around $700 give or take plus the tune and the nitrous is around $750-$800 plus tune. Just wanting some opinions Thanks All! Mods are as follows:

SLP lid w/ K&N filter
FAST 92mm intake
Big Mouth 92mm TB
Hooker LT's w/ ORY
SLP Cat-Bak LM1
Vengeance Racing tune

nice cam, cant go wrong, get a solid tune, adn the power is thier always. I slapped an F13 in my car with stock heads and a HUGE stall and ****** 4.10s(IN AN AUTO!) and the damn thing made just shy of 400rwhp! Just sayin, from a reliabilty standpoint, im all about stock internals. Just get a solid tune, and u will be stoked, especially at a stop light with a 112LSA, people will be drooling!

Would you rather have a decent increase in power at all times or a substantial increase of power just a fraction of the time?

It's a hard choice but they both have their pros and cons. The cam will give you that lopey idle that most people love but it won't be the bang for the buck that nitrous will be initially. On the downside of the N20, it seems cheap now but once you fill the bottle a bunch of times at $50 a pop it will begin to add up a bit. Either way you can't go wrong, the LSx motors respond really well to cam upgrades and with the right accessories a modern nitrous kit is alot safer than it use to be years ago.

i would have to say go with a cam. you already have the intake and exhaust so why not make the most out them and i'm sure with a nice tune you'll be good to go. nitrous probably isn't a good idea in a daily driven car

Don't let people scare you away from nitrous. Its all about being smart when using it and having all the safety equipment. If you on a budget a cam swap will be cheaper cause getting a good nitrous kit, all the safety, features, tune, install, etc can add up quick. Cam it now and spray it later.

Nitrous is probably your safest/cheapest big power adder out there given its setup correctly. I think when you ask "cam or spray?" you need to re-word it to say "cam AND spray?" Thats where the fun starts.

On a serious note though I would cam the car first then see what you think of it. Of course nitrous will be a substantial gain instantly, like was said before, but I think you can't go wrong camming an LS1 period. Chances are since you are already tuned by Vengeance they will not charge you the full price for a retune.

Cam. power is always on. the n.o.s will give you alot more for the money, but the bottle does run dry. I would not go over big on the cam if it's your d.d.

Since you already have headers I would go with the cam... HOWEVER... 150 RWHP gain is tempting... I have both and want to go Forged and Boosted
