Default But I want torque

I have a question about a thunder racing cam. Has anyone tried a 230/224 .565/563 on a 111 lsa? I am all messed up because I phoned them today with full intentions of ordering another cam and they were really pushing this one. The one I wanted was a 224/224 .563 on a 112. Mods are qtp longtubes, no pollution control, lid, ported throttle body, stock 342 gears and six speed. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

just do a search on TR230 or 230/224. You will see alot of people running that cam.

Reverse splits are not near as common as the traditional ones. I have always had a secret interest in them though. Some people have had good success with them. Maybe thunder has a newer lobe design coming out soon and they are trying to clean out the stock.

the cam they recommended is an "upgrade" to the 224/224 that works especially well if you have a good exhaust system

the reverse splits are notorious for having a huge flat torque curve for great response at low rpm, but still have great top end HP for continued pull through the whole rpm range

the cams tight lsa also creates a wicked lope that makes it sound like an even larger cam than it is

Ever wonder why GM always put in such a large difference between intake and exhaust duration on their ls series cams? It's because the intake port flows so much more than the exhaust ports. Even with longtubes and a freeflowing exhaust, you still need to get the exhaust out of the chamber, and that's why you typically see exhaust biased cams.

Personally, I'd say go with a traditional split and get a 224/228 cam.
