I'd say that is a very broad over-generalization! They are very good for alot of combos, but there are definitely combos that call for an aftermarket rocker!

I think the trunion upgrade is a great alternative to a $500 set of aftermarket rockers.

Hmm, ok. Well here's a different question. Do aftermarket rockers require this upgrade, or do they come with better trunnions?

Well, a trunion is just a pivot point by definition, first off. But yes, aftermarket rockers typically have a bushing in there instead of needle bearings which typically will run more reliably and more quietly as well.
