I'm running, what most consider a mild cam for a 383, AFR's 234/238 with AFR 205 heads. Putting down 500hp to the wheels.

Great street manners and tons of torque and power - no regrets.
Damn sounds like a stout set-up. What are the rest of your mods? Anything done to your AFR's?

My setup is very similar, flatlines at like 5300
why would mine flatline in the 5000's if i had my ls6 intake in my previous setup and it pulled to 6600

so did mine. my old 346 was a 235/243 cam tsp stg 1.0 prc(cnced 243's) ls6 intake 1 7/8 headers no cats 3 inch all the way back.

new setup 383 11.75 cr 242/250 cam same heads/intake/exhaust. flatlined at 5300, af dead nuts through the whole band.

there is only so much air that intake will flow, i thought the same thing when i got the new motor.

Simple. More Cubes=More air to fill the hole. The longer stroke will suck in more air and max out your intakes flow capabilities sooner in the RPMs.

I think that it's more likely that your cam is off at least a tooth rather than the intake being that totally inadequate. I run a ported 78mm FAST and it pulls strong all the way to 6600 rpm's. Your LS6 intake is also 78mm and the TB I run is ported and is compatible with your intake,so there's no way that my intake out flows yours to the extent of 5300 rpms vs 6600 rpm's. Look elsewhere for the true reason that the engine flat lines at 5300 revs. Obviously a larger FAST intake will benefit your overall performance, but it's not going to solve the present issue.
