Pushrod Length and Valve lash
Pushrod Length and Valve lash Alright, bit of a newb question but I need some verification so here it goes...
Lunati Cam (mild street/strip) with stock lifters, Patriot heads, and Jesel 1.85 shaft mounted rocker arms (overkill I know, but I couldn't pass up the deal off ebay). I am measuring pushrod length, on both sides of the engine, intake and exhaust, and I am getting 7.250" for length.
1. Does this seem too short?
2. Or have others had to use this length before?
Valve lash - this is my first h/c/i etc build. With Jesels, the valve lash is set using the adjuster cup on the rocker arm.
1. With hydraulic lifters on an LS1, what is the recommended valve preload or lash?
I would assume no lash as its a hydraulic setup, but again, newbs first mild LS1 build.

Like ^^ that guy said, about .050-.080" of preload should do the trick.

Thanks Matt, have you ever had someone use 7.250" pushrods? Seems short, but the length checker comes up the same everytime with the adjuster cup one full turn from max and the pushrod on the base circle of the cam - making the checker tight to the adjuster cup.
I have never used that rocker for a combo like this....so I can't say for sure if it sounds right or wrong. All I could tell you, assuming you are using the pushrod length checker tool, is to check and check again to be sure.

Trending Topics
Check the underside of the Jesel's and make sure they will take the lift you are using. There have been issues in the past with them. Also, check to make sure that with the pushrod in place they clear the heads, there have been issues with the pushrod rubbing on the head.

Verdad Gallardo ^^ Thanks guys! I will double check all the clearances again. The total lift (including the 1.85 ratio) is .598/.596. I will have to check clearances again once the pushrods are in and I can rotate everything all the way over.
I probably should have just used the stock rockers and saved these for a much wilder LSX build...next time
