XE-R Lobes on DD Car?
I was looking into having a custom cam made, on the smallish-to mid size, with XE-R lobes. This is going to be on my camaro that I put roughly 7500 miles on each summer. (I live in Buffalo so the car is stored 1/2 the year)
With that said, I was told the XE-R lobes tear up valve springs pretty bad. What are your opinions on this, and anything really to do about this besides buy really nice springs instead of replacing them every 10k?
Thanks.

Any bigger then stock cam is going to accelerate spring wear, Put in upgraded springs and depending upon your specs.. service them as they should be.. mild cam with those lobes on a 918 should have no issues going 25-50k...

If you get the right valvesprings the XER lobes will work out pretty well. We have used our 228R (228/228 .588/.588) paired with the PRC dual valvepsprings many times before as a DD cam with good results. With the new dual I would expect to get at least 40-50k out of them, or 4 years of time. Whichever hits first.
