Default Car momentarily loses power but then runs fine again...

This problem started last May and went on for two days, then cleared up and all was well until a few weeks ago. When it cleared up, I just wrote it off as bad gas since it ran fine for 2.5 months.

When I am driving, the car will briefly lose power as if it's not getting any gas. It will intermittently cut out and when I let off the gas pedal for more than a few seconds, it's as if everything resets and the car is usually OK.

The car did the same thing last October but it was more common and pronounced. I had the fuel pump replaced and never had anymore problems.

I can still drive the car fine but I have lost a lot of top end since the more gas I give, the more it will bog the car down. Anything below 2,500 RPMs and I am good to go.

Any ideas?

are you getting any codes? But I think you have a bad pump again!! but first change the fuel filter and see how it runs!!

I haven't had a chance to run any codes yet. Since the problem is continuing to happening, I will drop the car off at a friend's house next week since I will be out of town and let him look at it.

He mentioned that it could be the fuel pump but wants to make certain before replacing a good part. It's for a 2000 Z28 if that matters.

If your MAF is descreened check inside of your MAF. I had the same problem as you but from 4000rpm and up. I took my lid out and looked into my MAF. I found their a 4'' long piece of the air lid gasket. Took it out and problem was solved.
