Talking Patriot 5.3's, 224/581/112, Macs Track Results

went to gainesville today, DA varied from roughly 200-400 ft i believe

i had two goals, 1) hit 11's, 2) hit 120
got one of them

new best time:

60': 2.034 stock rear
1/8 et: 7.95
1/8 mph: 94.5
1/4 et: 12.04
1/4 mph: 120.3

heres a vid: http://home.insightbb.com/~black02ss/TallyTA.mpg (thanks hc02ss) ran a full bolt on, blown/aftercooled, stang pushing 13#'s

ran a few more 12.0somethings @ 119.9somethings

mods are:
patriot stg II 5.3's milled .015 ($1000 heads)
224/224 581/581 112 +0 (relatively small cam)
Macs (cheap headers)
asp's
custom exhaust
rest of bolt ons
STOCK REAR AND GEARS

car is still untuned since the head install

ive REALLY FUGGEN HAPPY with the mph since my whole car is built on a 21 year old college budget (heads were $1000, cheap headers, everything else on sale or used). and i hope this shows how patriots can perform. 120 now, new cam and tuning probably 122-123 later.

anyone wanna pitch in for the ryan needs a rear end fund???

11's are a decent 60' away but im sure your not gonna try too hard considering your stock rear ...very nice #'s for a mild setup

oh yeah forgot to mention.

drove 200 miles to the track
ALMOST ran 11's
hit 120 mph
drove 200 miles home
average 28.9 mpg on the highway

ran the car how i drive it everyday with the exception of cutout caps (which i have gone without before on the street), no pass seat, and shortbelt.

Congrats! 120 is amazing with 3.42s. My heads/cam car barely hit 117 in warm (not really hot) weather w/ 3.42s. When I stepped up to the 12 bolt w/ 4.10s, the car responded w/ around 119 mph trap speed. My best was 11.95 at 120.95 on a 1.95 60ft. So I guess my best w/ 3.42s probably would have been in the 118s.

Sweet times Tally! Gotta love what a short belt and a little weight reduction can do.

52" belt that bypasses the powersteering pump, doesnt really do much, id say .3-.5 mph and .05 seconds MAYBE, but is only like 10 bucks and it cant hurt

Very nice MPH!! I've got almost the same mods as u and I was figuring I can hit 120 also with my 4.10's. With that mph u should be in the 11's easily.

congrats!!

The stock rear with 3.42s can handle slicks if launched right with the six speed

If you bring the revs up and step straight up off the clutch as fast as you can while flooring the gas you will get some good 60 times with the right tire

One of the guys has gone 10.30 on the stock rear with six speed

i was running 275 50/15 BFG drags (daily driving tire ) launching at like 3500-3800 slipping off the clutch really quick. the car hooked, dropped down to 2500-2700 and took off. no spin every time. cut solid 2.00's every pass

im sure i could have bumped it up to 4500-5000 and cut a 1.8 but im broke as hell and cant risk taking out the rear (thing already has like 75k miles and tons of passes). traction was pretty decent for me yesterday.

personally i would rather run 12.0's at 120 all day and drive home, than run a 11.8, take a nice 3 hr/ $300 tow truck ride home, and be without a car for a while since i dont have money for a rear.

what do you think the possibilities are with a 9" with 4.30's at 28" tire???

tally what does your car dyno? if you have dynoed the way the car sits...

and run some 11's...

389.9 hp, 375.3 ftbs SAE...i found this in another thread you started...good mph with that power...

im planning on buying some pp 5.3's when i can afford it...

yeah tell me something doesnt add up quite right there

390 hp and 120+ traps sounds kinda off based on what ive seen around here

oh well, rather be faster on the track than the dyno
