Hand Porting
I just finsihed my first set and they look good. There are a couple of threads that shows do's and don'ts with pics. Its not to hard, just time consuming. Im sending mine out for Valve job and surface this week.
I'd be interested too, but most likely just try a light clean up myself.
I can't justify spending $800-1000 plus shipping to get work on a set of 799 heads I gave $250 shipped for.

On my last set of heads, i had an experienced buddy oversee my porting, and essentially all i did was use the sandpaper "tootsie rools" to clean up the casting flash, not really remove any material per se. The one thing he stressed to me was to be careful when cleaning up any of the hard radiuses, you can really screw up the airflow if you go nuts with the buzzing in those areas.
not sure on the sponsers but you can find nice gains within 1 1/2" of the valve while leaving the runners stock. a GOOD vj and the right bowl work go along way for the money spent
Advanced Induction did a set of 243 heads for me where they had a full CNC exhaust port, Newen valve job with hand blended bowl work leaving the stock intake runners. Here is the flow data compared to a stock 243. At .600 lift there is a 32% increase on the intake side and 28% on the exhaust side over stock. So just looking at the intake side shows just how much can be increased with a good valve job.
