Anything wrong with Patriot Heads
Been thinking about putting some ported LS6 heads on the bird soon and i am considering Patriot heads their flow data seems to out flow other heads. Ive seen some guys on here talking crap on them but is there actually anything wrong with them. Also considering trick flow heads. Thanks.

i went with PRC but its a personal decision like being an autobot or a desepticon..lol but if money or price is not a deciding factor then go with TFS..I dont think there is anything wrong with patriot but i do think there are better products out there..

Trick flow is top of the line stuff, not really even comparable to the patriots. IMO, many of the budget ported LS6 heads don't offer very substantial gains to make the price worth it over stock 243's. I'f I'm going to spend $1500 on ported LS6's I'll save a little more and get some AFR or TFS heads.
I had a very similar setup to you, 224 cam with stock 243's and put down 425/405 on a conservative tune.

Advertised "Flow data" is the absolute last thing you should use when considering a cylinder head purchase. Companies play the #'s game with flow charts just like anything else. It's all marketing. Flow #'s can also be manipulated using a pipe to bloat the exhaust cfm.
In some cases it's the companies that dont post flow data that produce the best results.

You're really wasting your time with ported stock casting heads. $ vs. HP, not really worth it. Trick Flow and AFR are both really good heads, leaning slightly more towards AFR because Tony Mamo is pretty active in the LSx community and really seems to know his stuff. However, there are a couple vendors here that have had great success with the Trick Flows. If you're having a shop do the work, see what they have been doing and what produced the best results. If you're doing it on your own, talk to Tony Mamo.

anybody know if Tony Mamo also ports heads? i was wanting to have him port my intake and tb. Im sure it would flow like no other if he did all 3 with some 1 7/8 headers.

I dont know if he does anything to the AFR heads, but i know he will port match the intake to the heads. Why dont you contact him and ask him? He seems like an easy guy to talk to and also seems very helpful.

Yes, he will. On the old 205's it wasn't so much porting as un-shrouding the intake valve through some hand work in the chamber. I had that done on my heads. Now the 205's are replaced with the new 210's and the intake side flows similar to my hand worked head, which may be the working model of the new 210 head. AFR just released some head updates and they should be even better then before. I would definitely contact Tony to get the latest scoop.
