If this price includes gaskets/bolts and such it is a great price, otherwise it is about average.

If its someone who hasn't did this before $500 is pretty cheap insurance to know that it was done right.

I would think you'd pay somewhere around $500 for just the install, or around $600 with the extra's.

Carmen hooked me up. I paid less than that. If I had to pay that much now. I'd do it myself.

Yea I payed alot but I didnt have a driveway or garage to do the work in . As a matter of fact I was over by carmens the other day and I had my new cam sitting in my back seat and I asked him how much he wanted to just swap out the cam and not the springs cause they are good and I was quoted $500.00 . Needless to say even though it is really friggen cold outside I passed on it and Ill do it with hawk this weekend hopefully and pay nothing. If it was like 200-300 I would have done it in a sec . Swaping a cam outside in 8 degree weather isnt really what I want to do but sometimes its hard to get a good deal.

Damn.. That's a lot for a cam install...

We do a cam install + valvespring swap for $350 + gaskets

Head installs are $400 + gaskets/bolts

Add $100 surchage to cam installs only for vettes. Head installs for vettes are the same price above.

We can have you in and out in 1 business day.

Heck, I had to learn how to install my parts on my car due to the OVER PRICED shops (Ex: $1300 for a cam install--There fuggin nuts around here). Oh well, I enjoy working on my car anyway.

$600 isn't bad.I charge $500 for the change.Matt at TTP is the best price for H/C work and my price is cheaper than his on Header's,clutches ect..Each shop shines on different installs.

man, you guys got it easy. only 2 places around here that are Fbody enthusiast shops and they want $1100 to do a H/C swap (not including gaskets) + $450 for LS1 Edit dyno tuned + $200 to install the longtubes + hpipe (theoretically, the headers come on and off anyways and should be free, but he said that it needed tooling with to fit, thus $200 (instead of the $350 normally to do LT/Hpipe)).

Maryland sucks!

I had a local shop, also a sponser, tell me it would cost 950 for labor + gaskets and bolts. So around 1100 total. Needless to say I will have one of my friends do it at his shop for alot less. Unless someone in the Kansas City area wants to make some money.

Not to hijack the thread, but can you guys tell me if this is a good price? For installing heads, a new cam, an oil pump, headers/y pipe, a new clutch/flywheel, and all of the misc. gaskets and bolts and such. Included in this price is the price for all bolts/gaskets and fluids...(head bolts/gaskets, header bolts/gaskets, etc.) - $1200. Does that sound about right? I thought it was a decent deal. Thanks!

Mike

Are you sure this was just for the heads? Sounds more like a head/cam install.

You're right Snake, don't know what I was thinking. Just seemed too good to be true. I think my friend will charge me about 500 for it all. So is 950 good?
