ok heres the latest. I went back home to fix his car and honestly we had to do it before most of the replies came through, but i very much appreciate all of them. What we found was pretty much nothing wrong....until i placed the old oring in the oil pump. Actually pulled the pump off and inspected it also. the spacers were fine too btw. I think reusing the old o ring was the problem. it seemed to loosely fit in the pump hole and also around the tube. like if it was 11 years old or something and had lost its spring. the new oring was much fatter and puffier and hopefully this one will work. i feel very good about it. Were waiting on getting his pcm back from being tuned before we can crank it. Bat thanks for all the help. Btw i noticed the old oring was brown, but the new one was blue. Any clue why? thanks guys

My o-ring was brown also ,,but my new pump came with 3 Orings a blue, red, and black. I chose the one that looked the most like the one I took out and for me it was the black one.

I have driven the car now for over 100 miles and at 2000rpm I have 60psi and at idle I have 45psi thats in Atlanta traffic also.

My Melling pump only came with two o-rings. The fatter one was green, and used with the pickup tubes with a step at the end. The black one was thinner and used with pickups where the inlet pipe wall is straight. Using the correct o-ring is critical.

Make sure it sets nice and flush before installing the bolt. If it doesn't, something's not right. Don't use the bolt to pull it down.

Mine didn't have a step at the end.

we got our o ring straight from gm for his car. It did not have a step in the tube and it went in tough (tight fit) but it went in well
