Default Gen 3 with VVT?

Can I get a LQ9/4 shortblock and add a VVT cam, phaser, and oil pump along with an L92 computer to enable VVT?

I already have everything but a shortblock to run VVT. This will not be a raced car. I want to make a reliable daily driver is all.

You could just use a gen 4 block with no problems, just need to run the 58x reluctor which we could do.

Do you really need the L92 oil pump to run VVT? Also wondering how deep the valve reliefs would have to be for a performance VVT cam.

I'm thinking of converting an LS1 to VVT. I've read the Hot Rod artical on it, wondering if their are any other details I need to consider to make it happen.

you need a higher volume oil pump. There needs to be more oil pressure for the phaser.

I would talk to comp cams or MAST about a performance version

Ok, makes sense for the oil pump. I got the Mast info on the performance version, will probably go that way along with their M-90 controller.

What about the valve reliefs? I can find pistons with -4cc reliefs pretty easy. Would that be good enough to run VVT?

I honestly wouldnt know. It depends on what phaser you use as well
