Default An on going question about block coming in the F bods

The question of the hour is was an Ls6 block ever put into a factory camaro? Well let me start off by saying what i do for a living I Am an employee for General Motors at the Towanda Engine Facility I am In research and Development for GMPT {General Motors Power Train} So back to the question was an ls6 block put into an F body the answer is yes the block in an 01 to 02 camaro and trans am were indeed ls6 blocks these blocks are also found in its pricy father the 01 02 03 04 Corvette Zo6 the difference in the blocks is minor the mains were revised to lower crankcase pressure also known as Bay-to-Bay Breathing the Valley, the Valley plates are Different and the oil pan is different Also Camshaft Cylinder head and fuel timing and other PCM Strategies But for the most part the engines are the same GM casts the engines @ Winters Forgery in Winters,NY they used the same blocks to reduce manufacturing costs due to the expensive aluminum design
