Thumbs up 379rwhp/362rwtw

I just got my hotcam installed by Jason (Jason99/ta) from thunder a few weeks ago and finally got it on the dyno.

339rwhp / 347 rwtq (before)
379rwhp / 362 rwtq (hotcam)

Mods were all major boltons, flp headers w/ cats, and TB, NO pulley.

Keep in mind. This dyno run was on 89 octane gas, cats, no pulley, and stock tune. A pulley should be installed sometime soon. The cats are already off. 93 has been in the car since the cam install. Thunder will be tuning the car as soon as i can get over there and make an appointment.

I may see 400 give or take w/ the stuff mentioned.

Thanks for all the help again Jason!

Were all those bolt ons on the car prior to the cam install as well?

6 speed I assume?

lol, sry for the confusion. I did not have my sig filled w/ all my nonsense yet. So here it is now.

the 40hp jump was a cam only change

after that dyno, i now have ory, 93 octane, soon to have pulley and tunning.
I will post an update after the tune.

Any other questions?

Jason, as I mentioned earlier, those are some very stout numbers for the Hotcam and your mods. I'll be taking the ASP pulley off of Jonathan's car this week, so maybe we can work something out for the weekend. You can then talk to Geoff about scheduling you for some tuning.

I'm just glad I found some free time to install it for you.

400rwhp or bust, right?

I doubt you picked up 40hp from the cam change. With the boltons you had before it should have been over 339 with an 02. Was it the same dyno and both sets of #'s corrected.

40 HP is very doable for a cam swap. It's actually on the low side for some of the newer cams. However the Hotcam should yeild at least 30-40 rwhp on a properly setup bolt on car...

BTW, why in the hell did you have 89 octane in the car to begin with?

OK if that is the case what would a TR220,TR224, and a TR230 pick up on a properly setup bolt on car?

Kind of funny how when I had a hotcam everyone one this board slammed it saying it was worth maybe 25rwhp at the most. Starting to make me wish I had one again. This comp doesn't seem any stronger.

Nice numbers. I think 400 will be tough to hit. I am sitting at 381/373 with only tuning left to do. I don't think I'll get to 400 either, but here's to hoping. Good luck.

Yeah dont underestimate what GM can do with a camshaft. They do have the best pushrod motors in the world.
and why would you have 89 octane unless your gas station was out of high test?

Dyno was on same dyno at thunder racing. Not the same day back to back. Yes numbers were SAE however that does not always mean exact numbers w/o varriances. And yes, the dyno runs were a cam only change.

BTW, why in the hell did you have 89 octane in the car to begin with?
lol, I was waiting for this response. Basically, my car is not a drag car. It is something I do for fun. At the time w/ all other mods I did not really care. 93 was in it for other dyno runs, I just forgot to do it with this one. However, I do run 93 in there now all the time because of the CAM, and will continue to do so after my tune.

Do you have any clip?
Right now I do not have a clip. I should get one 1 day when I get around to doing it.

Any other q?

Dude it's NEVER good to run anything below 93 octane in your car. LS1's detonate easy, and not running the proper octane only increases your changes of detonation. You need to look @ 93 octane as more of a necessity, not "hobby" gas

True, however we do have 2 fuel curves and i was more than likely in the lower one. I also was not detonating and had no ping. I would not say it is requored, however it is optimal. However, now with the cam, I did have some detonation during some warmer months of the winter.

Doesn't hurt that you have a 01-02 car either.
