Question Ws6 engine tick/noise? Need help.

So I just bought a 01 trans am ws6 with 40k miles on it about two months ago. Long story short I bought it from a dealer, they changed the oil. The oil light came on after a month and I was told they probably forgot to reset the light. I'm new to Ls1's so I thought it was fine . I drove it for another month then I started noticing this tick. So I changed the oil to mobil 1 increased performance and the tick stayed. I think its because of the shitty oil they put in it that messed up one of the lifters and me not changing it when I should of. Please watch the video and tell me what you think, is it safe to drive? I'm new to these cars so I need help! This is my DD right now but I'm getting another in about a week for winter.

That's cold piston slap, completely normal. I usually give my car a min or 2 to warm up some before driving.

Your oil light...is it the "change oil" light? If so, turn you key to the 'ON' position, don't start it. Then push and hold your trip/odometer button for about 10 seconds, or until the light flashes/goes off. That should do it.

first off, DONT use M1. it SUCKS. the only reason people think its great is because the commercials tell them so. do some research, read up on threads here and bobistheoilguy.com, and youll see the oil analysis of M1, and how terrible it is. theyve recently changed their formula of the 5w30, but id would still never use it. its been shown to break down and promote engine wear in as little as 1000 miles.

i used to use M1 before i learned better. i read the reports, gave away 10qts, switched to german castrol 0w30, and never looked back. not to mention just the simple oil swap has quieted down my tick.

Nothing wrong with your car and there is nothing wrong with Mobil 1. It is all internet BS and people trying to make names for themselves. My 16 year old 911 has run on it since new. The engine is perfect.

Normal LS1 sewing machine sound. Mine has sounded like that since it was new. It's had Mobile 1 in it since new also. Goes away when it gets warmed up.

I run Mobil 1 in both my Firebirds, my old 98 firebird as well. Never had a problem. Hell my V6 dynoed almost 400 rwhp with Mobil 1 oil and is still alive and kicking with the new owner using mobil 1 5yrs and 80,000 miles later.

Why would anyone do that when the car runs strong after so many years?? I mean, what would be the point unless you suffer from OCD. I think I'll just continue to enjoy my rides, not tear apart any engines nor spend needless $$ on analysis (oil or mental).

mobil 1 this, castrol that, im sure some oil's are superior to others .......JUST CHANGE UR OIL WHEN U SHOULD and u will unlikely have problems from a certain oil brand

i run mobil 1 since new and rit now.... but would def change brands if i had the facts...i will have to look into it
