Default camaro performance

Is it a good idea to put cam and heads in an automatic 98 Z28 with 128,000 miles. I'm going to put a cam, but not sure about heads. I'm thinking its too much work for an old engine.

Second question is, if I use Mopar combustion chamber cleaner would the engine lose compression? Thanks

I did H/C at 110k, now at about 176k. Once the old heads are off you can replace the lifters and lifter trays. And with new heads you have new valves, seals, springs and valve guides. I think it's a safer bet on a high mile motor than just doing the cam & springs.

You can also clean the pistons while its open and forget the engine cleaner.

If you have to ask, then you don't. Paint it pink, swap in a Prius rubber band and buy carbon credits.

All I say about Higher milage builds is that you need to be prepared that if you blew the motor that you MAY have to replace everyone of those expensive parts you just installed.

If a piston eats itself, rod gets thrown, debris in the oil or cyl. You can really trash stuff.

Go ahead and insall your heads and cam...I have had three different cams and heads on my ride...the last one was done at 130,000 miles and it now has 220,000 miles on it.
