Default timing chain dampener question

if i have a block that doesnt have provisions for a dampner is there any aftermarket or way to put one on it.

i have a 67 camaro that im building a forged iron block 347 and putting some boost to. i have diamond flat tops with callies compstar rods, stock crank 317 heads. shoulod be around 9.5/1 compression. i only want about 600-650 ish hp.
i bought an hd ls2 timing chain for this setup. will it work and is there anyway to dampen it?

I've been doing research on this too and am in the midst of putting one on. The only one you can buy is the LS2 damper. Then you have drill and tap your block. The problem is that the LS2 damper bolt alignment does not work well on a LS1. You get pretty close on the bosses. There's a guy that modified his LS2 damper to get better hole alignment. Here's the thread on that: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...ls1-block.html

here's couple more threads that might help:

Been running heads/cam (3 different combos) and bolt ons on this engine for over 220,000 + miles without a chain dampener .. been using LS2 chains ... no problems ... would not mess with it unless you have the motor out of the car and even then it is probably not worth the hassle

Too bad so sad ... ... Like I said if you have the engine out of the car I would if I needed it for my application ... but for a street car daily driver I would not fool with it ... my rig makes 452/418 and has 90,000 miles on the current chain... (LS2 chain)
