How does this look? Cam has about 40k miles on it.

That cam had some wear to it but you can polish some of that out long as none of the hardening material on the cam was damaged.

I figured it could be polished out. Im going to call speed inc tomorrow about going to the si5 hopefully it'll be a big improvment than the old 226. I'll retire this one

From the picture it looks like the cam is the least of your worries.

I know that lol. The heads are off lifters are out and cam's out.
Just trying to get a opinion on why these 2 lobes did that, lifter rollers looked fine along with the trays. All are being replaced although.
No metal in the oil either. Heh I dunno.

Oh now I see what he meant! Yep that window is a nice ragged hole done at the factory. The picture actually made the cam look worse than it is, I have it out of the car now and I'll snap some pics in a bit.

im gonna take a guess here, you think valve float could have done that? it looks like there wasn't a constant load on the lobe and the lifter was beating on it rather than rolling.

are the lifter rollers perfectly round?

Im thinking valve float also. Lifter rollers were perfect looking although 3 of the pistons on the driver side of the motor have light marks from the intake valves
