I bought the rotating assembly from Texas speed and they are sure it is 24x reluctor wheel and i got the code p0336.
Maybe i will try that this weekend but i doubt that is it.

Check the connector on the harness. I've had them go bad. The wire will actually break inside the insulation, making contact sometimes and then not.

Do you mean the connector going to the sensor or the connector going to the pcm?

I had the connector go bad to the sensor on my car, only ran about half the time, and the tach kept going in and out. Pulled the connector apart and repined it, still working, 2 years later.

Took some shots of the reluctor wheel just to confirm that it is a 24X

I'm going through the same problem!... So far we have swapped out 2 sensors, 2 pcm's and checked the reluctor to p/up gap. I've gone over the sensor voltages and the only thing that seems incorrect is the cam sensor volts are @ 12.84v where the table shows it should be 5v... The code that keeps coming up is P0103 (crankshaft position sensor performance A)
I clear and it re-appears but not always straight away.
I have been told that a CASE relearn will fix but so far no success...
Can you verify if your cam volts and crank sensor volts are correct? ie 5volts/12volts
Thanks
mike

You need to find someone who has (and knows how to use) an automotive oscilloscope, to look at the CKP and CMP waveforms (referenced to #1 ignition primary/secondary) to see if they are phased correctly and have the correct shape/amplitude.

Ask the shop to show you their oscilloscope and to show you any crank/cam waveforms they captured from other vehicles...

if they can't do that, or if the waveforms have poor resolution (i.e. you can't measure the time between crank pulses on the waveform), then goto another shop.

This is what the 24x/1x CKP/CMP waveforms should look like (attached).

This waveform was captured using a Picoscope which is a deep buffer high resolution automotive oscilloscope.

I borrowed this from the Autonerdz forum (I annotated it to show the relationships between the waveforms).
