Lunched a rod bearing - how should I clean up before installing the new engine?
Hey gang,
My current LS1 ate a rod bearing a couple days ago on the dyno. We shut it down pretty quick when the oil pressure started dropping, but looking in the oil pan and in the filter, a LOT of metal got circulated in the oil.
I've got an oil cooler and an accusump (long line, mounted in the trunk) in this system, connected through a Lingenfelter adapter above the oil filter.
Before I install a new engine, how should I go about cleaning all the oil lines, oil cooler and accusump? I'm planning to send the accusump back to Canton to clean and check out. I did this before I bought it used, before I installed it, and was impressed with the low cost and quick turn around.
Any help would be appreciated. Last thing I want to do is put in a new motor and run some metal through it!
Cheers,
Dean
