Default Car going into ARE....

Well my car is going into ARE in 3 weeks to get my headers and cam installed and I was curious as to what kind of numbers the LS6 cam was going to put down with my setup but now we'll never know as I've decided to go with a bigger camshaft. I talked with Wade and we'll be putting in a 230/230 .595/.595 112 cam with hardened pushrods and comp springs. I'm hoping that with this cam to see somewhere in the 400rwhp range. The headers are Grott Long Tubes and I have an ORY for the car also. I've had the LS6 cam and springs for almost a year and haven't installed them but I'm sure I'll find them a good home.

Is 400rwhp possible with this combo? (I think it is) and what kind of MPH should I run in the 400rwhp range? I'm currently making 323rwhp/342rwtq and I'm trapping almost 110MPH now.

Car should make well over 400rwhp with a ~230ish cam and supporting bolt on's etc w/ported heads.

If you local to ARE you may make out ok if you long distance you may be in for a very bad time like so many of ARE other long distance customers.

Why is it taking 3 weeks? A cam swap and headers and tuning could be done in 3 days easy for a competent shop.

I think he said its GOING TO THE SHOP IN 3 WEEKS.... I cant see any shop taking that long.

Im sure you will enjoy the new power. I would guess 390-405 on stock heads and traps around 116/117.... Im not as internet sauvy as some of the others and their optimistic dyno #s.....

It is going to the shop in three weeks for the install. Not taking 3 weeks for the cam swap. He should make 400RWHP or close to it on stock heads.

Well said.

Long as he doesn't pay until AFTER the work is done to his satisfaction, I think he has maybe a 50/50 chance of getting his car back within his life time.

Maybe some of you get the service you deserve
I get good service from ARE and I would be willing to line up with any of you in my class
Quit bad rapping shops especially when you don't have 1st hand experience with them. Didn't your parents tell you that if you don't have something nice to say; "shut your mouth". I do assume most of you live at home and are still getting your little asses wiped. Grow up.

Sorry...I dont normally reply to these threads. However. I do have first hand experiance with ARE on more than one occassion. I will never do business with them again. I gave them more than a fair shake and was very patient.
Im not going to go into gory details....but I will offer advice to anyone about to do business with ARE.
1) do a search here on ARE and familairize yourself with some of the potential problems when dealing with ARE
2) if you are set on using ARE, pay as minimal as possible upfront

Personally...I dont know why anyone would use ARE when there are so many other reputable shops such as Allan Futral and MTI and many others. The ONLY reason I could think of would be due to location. And even if ARE were my next door neighbor...I would still not do business with them.

This is my opinion and Im sticking to it. I DONT want to see anyone else get in a bind over bad dealings and 8 month waits.

People were just voicing their opinions because it seems that ARE recently has stiffed quite a few customers and even other shops as well as the owners of this board. They were mearly giving their opinions. This is a open forum which you will get peoples experiences and opinions. Im sure you have voiced atleast one opinion on this board.

They also stiffed some guys that won at an event they sponsored. It's common knowledge. It's happened to a guy on this board right now and that's firsthand.

Yep my buddie has an ARE motor and I do not think he would go there again. They made a mistake and took forever to correct it. He was without a car most of last summer.

No worries Jim. ARE will take great care of you. My car is the quickest n/a LS1 out there and I run an ARE motor. Keeps performing season after season. Just don't go into the engine room. Dave listens to some really funky music
