lifter noise normal or not???

is it normal to have a bit of lifter noise with an aftermarket cam???since i installed mine, i can hear a bit of knocking at high rpm. is this normal??

I just got my cam in this weekend and mine doesn't have any noise other than the "sewing machine" sound everyone talks about.

I have Comp R lifters and it does have that sewing machine sound.

Steve, are your 5.3s milled? Are you pistons fly cut? Just Fixen to do X1 and 5.3s and concerned about PtoV cleance. Im also running comp Rs and how did check lifter pre load and how much was it?Thanks Jason

Thye 5.3s are not milled. The cam has a little more lift that the TSP 231 and I did not need to fly cut. Speed Inc did the install so not sure how lifter preload was set. This is an area i am trying to run down now. I want to know what it was and how it was set, mostly for my information.
