A 228/228 cam would probably be pretty good for ya. It all depends on what you want. Call one of the sponser here on the board and tell them what you want. You could even go with a custom grind.

Your numbers sound real good for a 98 with only a lid/heAders car. I think they are good anyways. U have to take into account for the fact that u have the worst heads of all LS1 years and are still making good power. I'm hoping for 335-345 with an 01 with long tubes a lid and tune and that car has the LS6 intake...

I'd say with a decent cam an good components and an LS6 lid u can hit the 380+ range.

Yeah, those are pretty good numbers that you are putting down. I just read your other thread about wanting to go with a bigger cam.. So, I would really call one of the sponsers on here so they can get you all taken care of. Good luck.

Christ, we should make a sticky already. It depends on powerband, budget, street car, track car, or useless dyno queen? Power goals? 400 is reasonable with a cam and bolt ons only throuh a M6. Call a sponsor.--------------------------------->

There is a wide variety of camshafts you really can go with to get you close to that goal or even surpass it. It depends on what you want for street manners, what you are willing to do gear wise, etc. PM me or call me at the shop and we can definitely point you in the right direction for a camshaft.

There are a gazillion "good" cam choices. Which one is right for you depends on many things. I recommend putting some thought into your long term goals, budget for the next few years, and then doing some research since there is a new "what cam is right for me" thread every day, and has been for years. Once you narrow it down and provide more info you will get more useful advice.

A nice custom spec 228/230 or 232 should net you close to 400rwh. Look up one of the sponsors on here.

Agree with Davex, you have to do a lil more research on this, and give us a lil more info, there are a million cams that will get you 400 hp,but you do wanna get something that will work well with future mods if you plans are to add on,rearend and gears, heads, spray etc, is this gonna be a dd,weekend /race car?these are all things you wanna think about before picking one, also where do you want the cam to start making power?

I just saw your other post about a big cam,if you go that way,no matter how good your tune is you can get some surging and a lil bucking at low rpms, more or less depending on how good your tune is,I run a ms4 in my m6 and it runs really good but we put a lot of time into the tune,3 hours of dyno time and a few on the street, only bucks a very lil at low rpms and the surging isn't to bad,but I suggest if you go big also do rod bolts,I'm gonna do mine over the winter so its all set for next year,I also plan on running 4.30 gears or higher,I love the ms4 but depending on your goals for 400 it is overkill, there are a lot better street cams that will give ya a better power band,I also went with the ms4 because I wanted to spray, hope some of this info helps, but call a few sponsers and talk with them and get some ideas going on what your looking for

After reading your current mods that are done to the car, I don't think a 222/226 or a 226/230 ish cam will get you to 400rwh. I hit exactly 400rwh with full bolt ons, ported TB, TB Bypass, LS6 manifold, and a EPS 226/230 cam through 4.10's. You might need to look into a couple more mods to get you to 400. I wouldn't go putting in a BIG cam either being it's your DD. After driving my 226/230, I personally wouldn't go bigger then a 228/230 or a 230/234 for a daily driver.

Stock hand ported 5.3 heads, 228r, longtubes, ory, magnaflow, fast intake and tb netted me 409rwhp with great street manners, recently upgraded to torquer v2 power is now 422rwhp. Only slight surging with the new cam.
