Default Lube crank and cam cover seals or not?

They say not to but I would think you would chance burning it without a little lube?? What's the common practice?

No lube on the cover seal (I'm assuming you are talking timing cover here), it has a hi-temp silicone bead already on it. The crank seal (aka pulley seal), is not lubed either, however you lube the outside of the pulley hub when you install it.

What about the rear crank seal, the big one?
