Pushrod length with 288HR CAM
Pushrod length with 288HR CAM I'm kinda skeptical about this whole deal, but I got a 288 HR regrind off ebay and the seller is telling me if I don't run 7.450 pushrods I'll have issues. This is going in a 6.0l I believe stock pushrods are like 7.38 -7.4 my caliper only goes to 6" err. So do I really need new pushrods and if so are regular 5/16" universal pushrods going to work I couldn't find any specific rods for ls1's.
My thoughts:
-Do not buy regrind ebay garbage.
-Since you did, than you will more than likely need longer pushrods. However that's the case with almost any other camshaft on the market. Once the base circle is shrunk, a longer pushrod is needed to achieve proper geometry.
LS1's take a standard 5/16 dia. pushrod and can be found anywhere. Trick Flow has the best price on pushrods out of anybody. You can get them from Summit for around $86.
As for deciding length, do not guess. Measure it, or find somebody who knows how.

If its a regrind its cut smaller. He is telling you right. You would need a longer pushrod to make up for the fact that the cam itself is smaller. The right thing to do is measure for the correct length, but it will be longer then stock.

Thanks for the info I just unwrapped this re grind what a piece of garbage hope the seller will take it back if not its going on the scrap pile. You can still see the machine marks lobes are not smooth errr. Well at worst its a $137 mistake. Lesson learned I'm going to buy a brand new cam .
Use a pushrod length checker.with my t.f.s heads everyone and everyone else told me i need a 7.5 pushrod and thats what came with the package i bought. WRONG! when checking it out i actually needed a 7.42 pushrod cuz the 7.5 made the valves hang open. The push rod checker is so easy to use a retard like me did it easy.

I have a regrind in my engine. Wanna say its the same one, it was the biggest one the guy offered. I ordered longer comp pushrods for my application, measured before i ordered them. Mine looked fine and has performed well, well enough to blow my th350 to pieces as a matter of fact.
