I have been told they revised the casting to clear w/o shimming so I think as long as you get the newer design it is a straight up install...

I contacted melling a few days ago and the guy who I talked to sounded like he was tipping back the bottle a little to much. He told me melling pumps will not work with double roller chains. There is also people saying they do work. Go figure.

Melling adviced that the 10355 to be used for bearings clearance more than the OME which require higher pressure and volume to sustain the lubrication requirment to minimize the friction.

However, I could not asure if this pump 10355 will dry the sump in hard accelaration or sustained high RPM.

I read a recent article discussing oil pressure and volume. (In Car Craft perhaps?) They use a general rule 10 PSI per 1000 RPM and referenced some top fullers running 0 psi at idle. Just my input. Thanks

I called TSP to ask about bearings for my 408 rebuild and was told not to run the high volume pump. He said they dont use them at TSP because they have seen pans sucked dry in one 1/4 mile pass.
I exchanged the high volume high pressure pump with summit for the high pressure standard volume one.
He also told me it would not fit with a double roller chain. I went with a rollmaster single chain set which, according to the guy at TSP, is the chain set they use in builds.

I just wounder that melling introduced the 10355 in the market targeting LS engine, but which engine bore is designed for or / and stroke and bearing clearence...

For my case, I have an LS engine with 4.0845" bore and stroke of 3.622", with normal OME bearing clreance, however, I will be using an oil cooler with the normal oil filter, which I consider a pressure drop of at least 10 psig. The engine will be used in track with operating RPM from 3000 to 4500 for at least 2hr. I thought of 10355 is a best choice, but when viewed the Melling pump, it was adviced not to use it. I want to ensure it will not subject the bearing to oil wash and will not make the my oil pan dry...

That "recipe" has been around for many decades. Comes from the pro racing community like NHRA, etc.

However a guy above points out a pressure drop caused by an oil cooler so that would have to be taken into account in that type of setup.
