I picked up the starter on the left in this picture, any idea what it is out of? The one on the right is an LS1 starter with an ear busted off.

I bought a few boxes of stuff, mostly LS1 parts last year and that starter was in there. I bet it's a 3rd gen starter if that looks about the right size.

Most of the old school sbc starters look the same. Actually they pretty much are the same. There are two different bolt patterns. But as long as the bolts go in, you can pretty much swap em around. Larger engines had larger starter motors, but i've swapped in starters from smaller engines for extra header clearance.

Use the catalog and look under a 73' pontiac BONNEVILLE with a 6.6 (400). Key word search * starter*
They have a pic on there. Looks just like it.

that is a starter for BOP......buick...olds..pontiac........could be a frt wheel drive starter also.......it is not a small block or big block chevy..........all sbc and bbc are mounted on the right side(pass side) of the block......that one mounts on the left(driver side)
