Default Would this custom grind work?

236/242 .565/.580 112+3 XER lobes

This would be on a stock bottom end and stock heads.

A lot less brutal on springs than my current TR236. I'm thinking the extra .3x on the intake really isn't helping with the stock heads stalling in the .56-.57 range.

The thing I am worried about is the exhaust p/v clearnce. I know the intake will work fine but it is 12* more duration than my current cam with .05 more lift.

I don't know......

isn't the G5X very close to that duration with 0.6XX" lift?

You'll need to cut the pistons..And this Cam is actually more brutal then the TR236 you have..The XER lobes are harsh, expecially with that much duration.

This custom being more harsh in the respect of ramp rates I could see. But toal lift on the spring I see less of an issue.

Would you have to cut for the intake or exhaust or both?

As far as the G5X cams, others have said the X2 are some where around the .60X and in the high 23x-240 range. That was another question I thought about last night. Could you get that much duration with that little of a lift.

I would stick around 234 max on the intake side. You will likely need cutting at anything under 114LSA. I would DEFINITELY measure intake and exhaust clearance.
