question ls1 block rebuild
Ok I had some questions about rebuilding a ls1 block,I run a ms4 cam,stage l ls6 heads, ,ls6 intake (for now)I want to spray at least a 100 =125 shot,ok I wanted to get my block ready for next year so I have no issues( my car was down more than half the summer last year and it sucked) and the trans is having a stage 1 rebuild,and new rearend,so I thought I would get the ls fresh, my questions are,how much does a rebuild cost on average,also what things should I change to better fit my goals ,I want to shift around 6800,I know rod bolts but is there anything else,.I did look into getting a lq9 or 4 but I would like to keep the aluminum block.also anyone know anyone that does rebuilds in the northern ohio area ? I know a few people but just trying to get a few diffrent price quotes.I have never rebuilt a engine block so I figured I would just pay the extra to have it done right,thanks guys

can't help you on the price but i'de say a complete ARP bolt set top and bottom would be the first place to start. and when u say rebuild i'm assuming you want to keep all stock internals? if i were you i'd look into clevite H bearings, nitrous rings, cometic head gaskets, and a melling hv op.

With rod bolts comes more clamping force.. which in turn if you want to do it right you need to do a line hone on each cylinder so the bearings don't get out of round and you have to rebuild again. I am having mine rebuilt right now. New rod, main, and cam bearings, new piston rings, all parts hot tanked and vatted, ball hone, flycut pistons, balanced and assembled. Not sure the total price yet.

I wish I had more money to spend,but the rear ,and trans set me back a bit,I. Just want something solid,honest the spray will only be used on the track,and I only go there a couple times a month,its more of just a weekend /fun car

Is that price with you pulling the motor yourself?
I am looking to do close to the same mostly just to freshen up the bottom end. I was planning on doing most of it myself and just handing a shop the bottom end. I was looking to get a hone, new rings, all new bearings, gaskets, and ARP bolts everywere I can. Maybe a different cam and HP tuners if I have enough.
