Is a DCR of 8.94 too much?

Default Is a DCR of 8.94 too much?

I'm planning some changes and with my current cam and bumping the static compression to 11.5:1 the dcr works out to 8.94
Is that too much for 93 octane pump gas?

From the research I have done, I like to stay below 8.5:1 on pump gas, but I'm not an engine builder.

8.94:1 seems like race gas territory to me.

How are you coming up with this 8.94? Can you tell us a little bit more about the combo? You can run that on pump gas just make sure quench is between .035 and .040 and the tune is very good and pay close attention to knock.

sure...

stock ls2
ported 243 heads 64cc
.040" cometic gasket
226/234 113 EPS cam

Quench should be very tight as the stock piston is usually .006 above the deck. Can someone tell me if my math is correct?

do you have the .006 values of the cam and .200? by guestimating those im putting you around 8.65. I cant imagine your much more than that either, so i would say you will be fine on pump gas. I also advanced that cam 2 degrees in my calculations. Are you advancing it more than that?

I don't have the cam card with me, but if I remember correctly its a 113+3
The cam doctor measured it at 114 and it was installed at 111 icl.
Still okay?

I run 8.7 DCR on 91 octane, but that's pushing the limits in my experience. With 93 I'd stay at 8.8 or less....but it really depends on the entire combo in gauging what you can/can't get away with.

I've run up to 9.0:1 DCR on 93 octane. You need to be careful with the tune, but it's doable. The tighter quench will help you some.

Ignore the instructions to add a general 15 degrees to the IVC from calculations derived from duration @ 0.050". That's not reliable. You need to figure it out from 0.006" or whatever your cam manufacture has specified and plug that number in.
