That's too broad of a question. There's a million ways to skin a cat, and a million more to run 10's or 9's.

Research (using the search function preferably) on how to make more power, and then research how to increase your chassis/suspension efficiency (also using the search function) and you'll have a better idea of what it takes.

There's a lot more to making a car run 9's than making 700hp on nitrous. You also have to get the power to the ground.

Good luck and welcome to the site.

ok ty. i know that if you make all the power in the world and dont get it to the ground is useless.
i was more asking as to motor modifications.; head cam package with stock internals. stall converter gear ratio ect...

Three things I will say.

1) I agree whole heartedly with Damian. Too Broad of a question and too many opinions here. And to build on his point, even head to the 10 second club and 9 Second club. You get to see what builds are yielding those results.

2) a GM 4L60e will be at the limit of it's life, do not expect it to last long. Look towards getting a better unit, even a good rebuild package from a sponsor is hit or miss as the TQ Management is removed in light of max effor.

3) Be prepared to spend money, and be willing to drop a lot of weight out of the car. Less stress on parts (see transmission) and less weight you need to car = faster runs for the same given HP.

1. Rear end & suspension.
2. Converter, trans cooler & built trans. Don't expect your factory trans to last long running low 10's or 9's. You could get by with it for a little while most likely.
3. Wheels & tires (something sticky on the rear)
4. Cam, heads, headers, intake, injectors, full exhaust, upgraded fuel pump & tuning

Throw the NOS on anytime you want but you should tune for it. It won't be cheap.

I can read and comprehend just fine. I am not sure you are taking everything into consideration though. Only trying to help. It's not hard to make enough power with the NOS to get you there but the rest of the drive line is going to need some serious $$ to hold up.

once you figure out how to get the power to the ground, another way to look at the remaining mods would be find a balance of power additions and weight reduction that will get you in the 9 to 10 second club.

Take my two cars for instance. The 2009 G8 is stock weight (read: portly), and would take a considerable increase in power to get 10s. The 1981 TA started life as a stripper model (only option was slap shifter), and went on a diet from there. There is easily a 1100+ pound difference between the cars, and it would take less motor (and money) to push the TA into the 10s. Heck, the exhaust mods alone on the G8 would probably equal the cost of the complete engine I'd set up for the TA. My main concern with the TA is having enough tire to hook - stock wells on 2nd gens are nowhere near as big as cars from this decade.

Road racing the TA, I can probably swing sticking with the stock disc brake 10-bolt with minor mods. Drag racing it, I'd stick a spooled 12-bolt in. What kind of rear end are you going to run? At the ETs you're talking, I'd guess Ford 9-inch or GM 12-bolt (the stock rear may give out before the 4L60e barfs).

Other variables to consider: Is this car going to be a dedicated drag racer? Do you like autos or manuals? Are you willing to strip the car down to the bare essentials? If you are going to street-drive the car, what are the emissions laws like around you?

Nitrous pretty much requires forged pistons, which would then require other items (rings, cylinder hone, maybe rods, bearings, etc - domino effect = $)

They aren't saying it can't be done, they are more suggesting that your question was so broad. You basically sound like you are wanting someone to put together your complete build sheet.

Good topic to ask your builder because the question you posed to us could be answered with a million different combos.

You ask what others recommend, and some gave you their opinion...such as: research, $50,000 so don't go acting bitter when you get those responses to your question
