Default Where to get lqx block from...

Im not really trying to buy a new lq9 or lq4 truck block from summit its 700 plus probably another 100 bucks to ship it. Would it be safe to just go to a junkyard and pull a shortblock or get one from someone parting out a truck on craigslist? I would plan on getting it machined and everything to make sure its not cracked and everything is squared up. Ill be using it for a boosted 408 or 383 most likely. Also, I saw a lq9 or 4 block on ebay. THe guy was advertising them as being brand new blocks that were rejected due to minor defects such as surface rust or bore size being slightly too big. It was real cheap but my question is is would it be OK to buy one of these and just get it worked over at the machine shop? He promised that any defect that it came with was small and easily fixable just tooo many block for him to go over every one and diagnose it.

Pay pal it and take a shot. It possible but im an optimist. Any of the issues your talking about are easily fixed. If not contact paypal and get your money back.

I think I've seen that seller on eBay too. He had a bunch of 5.3's that had some knicks on surfaces like the oil pan for pretty cheap. Never bought anything though

Get a LQ4 from the junkyard, they cost ~$350-400 out here for a shortblock, most times they have a rough estimate of mileage as well.

Ok Ill try that as well, how much is a good estimate to get a new block ready to use vs getting a used block from the yard ready to use. Assuming I brought them both to a 4" bore.
