Default Which cam do you recommend?

I just sold my 01 TA and bought a 99 C5 (definitely a great decision) and I want to get a cam in this bad boy ASAP. I had a TR 224/224 114lsa cam which made 393rwhp. I really loved this cam, it had a great lope, made power when I wanted and was a great daily driver.
Basically I want to get a cam in the vette that would be the next notch above the 224/224 as far as increasing the power. This is going to be more of a weekend car so im willing to lose a little drivability.

Probably a low/mid 230's custom grind. Talk to one of our sponsors, I'm not going to suggest a particular one...but just about all of them know what they're doing. Keep in mind future mods such as heads, intake mani, and nitrous in your cam selection.

I agree TSP will get you headed in the right direction. If you were just wanting a step up you should check out the 228r from TSP. Its been proven to give very nice results.

My future mods would be headers and maybe heads. I was thinking a cam in the 230s would be too big. I was thinking a 228 would be more what im looking for.

A lot of guys may tell you to go custom, but if you talk to one of the sponsors they may have a off the shelf cam that will meet your goals. A custom will give you a little more, it's still up to you on which way you go.

OP, important to me is what kind of rpms are you going to be spinning and whats your rear gear going to be? I would think you would really like one of the 228/232 Cam Motion grinds. They have a slightly under .600 lift version and a .612 lift version. A TR230 from Thunder would be a solid choice as well, and I also like the Torquer V3 from TSP.

New Era's High Torque cam is great (228/232) as well as TSP's Torquer V2.

With a good tune you can even run a 112 LSA and be ok. Remember a stock cam will buck if you lug it...

The torquer v2 on a 112 is the cam I have with the PRC ls6 stage 2.5 heads. This cam is tame as a kitten. It not a bad cam at all. Reallistically this cam is small in comparison to what's out there. With a good tune this cam can be a daily driver all day, every day and you will love it. This was my first cam choice and I was nervous about going to big. But this cam really is tame. It's just depends on what you want. Low end or mid and top end. This cam is more mid and top end without sacraficing to much low end. But the 228 cam will probably dyno higher on the lower end. But the torquer just keeps pulling and pulling it never falls off untill 6500 RPM. I am actually thinking about stepping up to the V3. Just to see what happens. I just talked my buddy into a 228 230 split with just around 581 lift. Should be a good cam for him. He has stock heads and should give him acceptable low end with tons of mid and decent top end power. Anywhere in there you will be happy.

With a good tune no cam will buck. I can cruise a 1100 RPM in 5th gear with no bucking at all. I guess this comment is directed at 01Bird58
