Default cam that lopes with exhaust manifolds

hey guys.my cousin wants to do a cam swap on his 2002 ss .the car only has 19,000 miles on it,and he would like to stay away from headers.i suggested a yank or circle d converter,trans go shift kit,and a custom speced cam,and drag radial's,does anyone have this combo running 11 second time slips?HOWEVER,he wants the cam to have a nice lope.my car has the cheatr v3 cam in it running 12.00's ,but he wants a lopey idle.i did a search ,and all i could find was manifold cam's with 243 heads or afr205's.anyone running manifolds,cam with a descent lope,stock heads and 11 sec. e.t.'s?also,the car came with the slp catback.any input is appreciated.

why on earth would he not want to do headers? please slap him for me....


i would never do a cam with out doing lt's, full exhaust, and bolt ons first.

Tell him to get a GM ASA cam if he really wants it to lope.

Have Patrick G spec a cam - he has had good success with EPS cams with stock manifolds.

he want's to do cam swap with a little lope,and bring it back to stock if he sell's it.i don't have headers,and i'm o.k. running 11.00's with a 100 shot with a quiet,stock exhaust car.he 's just looking for a nice lope on stock manifolds,and maybe running some 11 sec. e.t.s with the right converter and some drag radials.

thanks,i'm gonna call geoff at eps.he tuned my car with the cheatr package.was just wondering if anyone had this type of set up.

Patrick G speced my cam, and Geoff supplied and checked it. I am running a CTS-V LS6 with stock manifolds and stock cat back with 407 rwhp/391 rwtq. Making power through stock exhausts can be tricky, but Patrick G / Geoff Skinner know how.

is your car a m6 or a a4? 11 flats are sweet with stock manifolds and a 100 shot. how does that v3 work on the street? do u have a dyno graph that can be posted? i have been lookin into this cam but have not heard anything about them.

Any cam with more than -4 overlap will have a lope to it. But yeah, calling Geoff is a good step in the right direction.

I dont think a custom spec'd cam is ever a bad idea!

I ran a 224R on a 114, and it had a little bit of a lope to it.. Drop that LSA a little bit and youll get more lope out of it. I made 350rwhp/352rwtq with that cam, stock manifolds/cats, SLP Y, and LM1, but i was having some serious slip through the stall.

You are correct. Especially when you arent going with the 95% path taken of an engine that will be wearing headers.

Have him go with a cam with similar to the cheatr v3 219/230 117lsa, but with a 112lsa.
The v3 has -9.5* overlap, w/112lsa it would be .50 overlap.
EPS TT2 cam would be another option, 218/226 113lsa w/-4* overlap.

Thats how mine is, but I have the SLP LM1 so its just a little bit louder. During the first start up, I called my dad and he asked me what that motor boat sound was and I told him that it was my car. I have to smog in a few months that why I am still running stock exhast manifolds. After I smog, Im gonna do LTs and ORYP. I went with the basic Ls2 243s and an EPS cam 222/226 .596/.598 114

Cam without longtubes is worthless,if his car is a stock auto with no bolt ons or exhaust he is not gonna run 11s with just a cam, I think he should make up his mind if he is gonna sell the car or keep it,think he would be better off doing bolt ons,gears,and a stall ,instead of a cam if that's all he wants to do,I think thunder racing has a cheater cam though

Sorry I see you have the cheater,call pat g, if anyone can do what he is looking for its those guys,there great at what they do,I just don't see the point in just doing a cam swap ,if he is that worried about selling the car why doesn't he just do bolt ons ,stall,gears and a tune? Seems easier than swapin cams,my opinions are usally worthless though lol,

This is a comma, which can be used for pauses in the middle of a sentence.
This is a period. It is used at the end of a sentence.

I still am missing the point of NOT doing LT's when he is going to get a stall and other supporting mods. The converter won't be any easier to uninstall than the headers.
