whats the biggest you can get away with single springs also. I dont really want to go to a double because of the added cost. Is there anything bigger then a 224/224 .581/.581 112 ls1?

I have the 224/224, .581"/.581", 114 LSA and I drive it everyday with a 2800 stall converter. Texas Speed has a deal with the double springs and it isn't much more. I think single springs are fine but I want double incase something breaks. I like having the insurance of another spring. JMO

Now I'm running the Pariot stock diameter "gold" duals. I've had them for around 4,000 miles. Before them I ran the comp single 918's for about 3,000. The lift on my cam is .598/.595. The 918's are a good spring, but I like the "insurance" of the duals. Texas speed has them for under $300 with ti retainers and everything else you need.

well, i've thought about this for the longest time, basically i want a significant gain and i want to run 11's after headers tuning and the cam swap. so basically that means something bigger then a 224. im goin to wait till spring break and pick up the stuff. that means headers + cam swap, then a trip with the car on a trailor to speed inc. i dont feel like taking the chances of an overheating problem etc on the 1.5 hour drive.
1) You can achieve 11's with 224 cam
2) Don't they have emission testing in IL. ?? (They did when I lived there 5 years ago) Better make sure it'll pass emissions before slappin' a big cam in

and i'm goin for 10's with stock heads and full bolt ons. I'm far from full bolt ons right now thats why with the cam/headers/tune i'd be happy with an 11. You may want to wait until Jason @ TSP gets through testing his new TRx cams, if you go to the dyno section look for the post that starts out with 440 something. Cam, headers and some minor bolts ons, putting down 440 at the wheels
If that doesn't sound good I have a 224/581 on a 112, I would let go for 250 has 4000k on the cam

If you go bigger than ~220, gears really help with making the car more fun to drive and easier to drive. Headers as mentioned above are very important for best results. Tuning helps alot with driveability and is critical the bigger the cam is.
If the car gets OBD-II scanned you can go bigger than 224 and pass with correct tune.
If the car gets sniffed a 224 XE-R on 113 or 114 LSA should pass sniffer with correct tune. Some folks have passed sniffer with ~230 sized cams on a 114 with a special emissons tune but I'm told it can get a little dicey.
The roller test I'm not familar with.
