Default anyone with comp R lifter noise

i just got my motor running with comp R lifters and have that little noise that people are talking about. is there anyone that just runs it like that. the noise does not bother me at all but i just dont want to shorten the life spand of the cam and lifters. i can only hear it with the windows down but i got a X-pipe so that mumbles it a bit. i will just by the adjustable rockers later, but right now i cant afford them.

it is not a fluttering noise. just a ticking, the motor did it on the stock cam and lifters before but with the comp Rs it is louder. the pushrods and rockers are stock and the heads are not shaved so the preload should be close to stock. i defenently need to get them tighter but if does not hurt anything, i was not going to worry about it for now.

I thought there was a length difference between the comp Rs and stock. Did you measure preload?

Ditto. Get the preload right and they are just like stock.

Its the preload. I had the same deal, 7.4 pushrods, stock rockers and stock preload and they were loud!! I could hear them driving and I have duals with one chambers!

yo could also mill the heads .030 and you'll be back down to stock preload. most aftermarket cams have ayt least that much diffrence in the BS. that'd probably fix it, and make it more fun on the CR as well

You are looking for .000 to .005 preload on the Comp R's as per Comp Cams tech line. It SUCKS trying to shim them (rockers) in. I scrapped my Comp R's until I decide to shell out the cash for adjustables. (I'm a lazy *****)

I'm going to be installing these in my new engine. How much preload are people running? Where can I get shims for the rockers?

So my question is how many turns past seating the rocker is this. Stock lifters like 1 1/2 - 2 turns. What do the comp lifters like? Also does this apply to their comp oem style lifters? Thanks.

I beleive for the comp r's, comp recommends .005 of preload, however when i got them from lg i was told they have been running .010-.020 of preload without a problem, however i do not know how many turns from zero lash this equates to.

the Comp pro-mag lifters(R)(875's) are only supposed to have .002"-.004" preload..any more than that could result in the retaining clip getting popped out of the lifter and causing lifter failure...so...they only need like 1/16th of a turn past zero lash..so..that being said..in no way, shape, form,or fashion can you just torque them to 22ft/lbs...now..on the OEM style(850's)..they are for standard recommended preload of .030"..just like anyother hydraulic lifter..so torque to spec will be just fine on those

good info, but i dont have adjustables, that is why i can only torque them to factory specs. now that the motor broke in a bit, alot of the noise went away. i did not want to shave the heads for the reason of not wanting to go to far and the fact that they were already straight.

well just be aware that you can and probably will damage the lifters using the stock preload
