Default Aftermarket cast head (AFR, TFS, etc.) that has iron/powdered metal valve guides?

Hey guys, I'm looking to swap the PRC 220's I have on my 382 for something a little more aggressive. Long term durability is going to be a key factor for me, so I do not want something that has bronze valve guides, I would prefer something OE if possible. Do any of these manufacturers offer their heads with this as an option?

I currently have a email into tea to see if they can put a package together for all the guys that dont want to run roller rockers. I asked for powdered metal guides and platinum springs. Its been a week since i emailed them so i should be hearing back soon. Of course this would only apply to tfs heads since they make them.

I actually have Yella Terra ultralites on my car already, I can run anything. I'm more interested in long term durability than anything else. Is powdered metal what GM uses in their heads from the factory?

Do you know you have issues with the guides? When I set up my YT's the wipe pattern was 0.045" wide, which should help the longevity of the guides. My prior setup used Dart heads (bronze guides) and Crane rockers, which wipe very wide and there was some guide wear after less then 10K miles. That was the primary reason I went with the YT's on the new setup.

No, I don't think I do at all. I currently run some PRC 220 heads, which are GM 5.3 liter castings. I want to step things up a few notches and get some better heads, however reliability is one of my main concerns. I understand bronze offers some performance advantages, however I have a street car and am more than willing to sacrifice a few HP for something that will last longer.

The new TFS LS3 and LS7 heads when released will come with powdered metal guides. The current TFS205 cathedral head has those already. Like mentioned TEA will use powdered metal guides if specifically asked.

What are the pros and cons of powdered metal vs bronze besides longer life with powdered?

As for the type of guide to install, many shops use the same type as the original and replace same with same (bronze with bronze, cast iron with cast iron, or powder metal with powder metal). Powder metal guides may be more expensive, so for some applications it may be more economical to substitute cast iron or bronze guides for the OEM powder metal guides. But these other materials may not provide the same longevity as powder metal.

Also this:

The idea of using a bronze valve guide is to help prevent galling to the stem of the valve as well as giving a better seal without making the valves sticky. Which can sometimes happen when we use some aftermarket valvetrains and high rev the living **** out of our motors.
