The 228R usually peaks power around 6200-6300 RPM. This kind of RPM should not be much of a problem with the correct valvetrain. The 224R will peak at about the same place but the power will come in just a tick earlier.

How about the 228r on a 110 or 111 lsa? How much lower will it peak? Or would it be too much of a driveability issue? I know the driveability is a lot in the tune, but I do a lot of low rpm cruisn.

You dont have to spin it to the moon, but, the stock rev limit isn't enough. That cam will peak in the 6200-6300ish range, BUT, you don't shift at peak power, you shift a bit after it otherwise you fall too far out of the power band.

My buddy ran this cam on a 112 in his M6, and it liked the shift light set to around 6500. With that said, the actual shift rpm will be a bit higher because from the time you see the light and react, the rpms have climbed further. So the actual shift was occuring after 6500, and he didn't have issues bumping the limiter, nor did I when I drove it, which was set to 6800.

His was a 00 model which has the weaker rod bolts like yours.

That makes perfect sense. Glad you posted this. So would going with a lower lsa make better sense?

Miles don't matter to the motor unless you race or abuse the **** out of it. If you drive it regularly and change oil regularly, then you can run a 228r cam and still be safe with a good tune.
