Default Cryogenics?

I was looking at building a spare motor for my Turbo car and was thinking of sending the Block and all internals to be treated. Has anyone on the board done this? What does it cost? Does it work?

Thanks for any help....

Look into Meta-Lax, vibrational stress relief. When the hole engine is assembled this process can be done. . .benefits, longer spring life, better ring seal.

I had my crank heat treated and kryoed after an offset grind. Cost 100 bucks. To do the whole tranny I was quoted 300. I would guess the motor would be in the same ballpark. Increased hardness and longetivity are the benefits. I wouldn't do the whole the block, but maybe the crank.

Here is the website and phone number for a friend of mine. Give him a call, he'll give you the run down on it. I recently had my flywheel done.

Waste of time unless you live at the drag strip and do 10 runs a day.

I disagree. Any time you can make a part stronger that is prone to failure, you will be better off. I had several hot spots on my flywheel (was a stock clutch that didn't like N2O very much), I'm betting that with the SPEC stage 3 and the cryo'd flywheel I won't have the problem again.

No such thing as stronger when they are flimsy to begin with. All you're doing is postponing the innevitable.

Better alloys and stronger buid is the way to go.

Cryoing metal does make it stronger. Everyone has their own opinions, I guess.
