Default someone reccomend a head for a 408 n2o motor

well, i have a set of mildly ported 6.0 heads that i'm using on my 6.0 pretty soon. BUT, i'm starting a 408CI stroker nitrous motor after it's done. the stroker will be a heavy track/some street motor for the truck. i've seen talk about some of the new stuff going on with nitrous specific head designs and am wondering who has the best product for the dollar now.

I agree..TEA or Absolute are the choices I came up with after much research. Stage 3. They each has special hand porting they do one the exhaust side for N2O.

Both mentioned above have AWESOME heads. The new TEA 2.5 Judson port seems QUITE impressive from the results I have seen recently.

They have a nitrous exhaust port and an NA port.. Give Brian a ring and let him know your goals.

Tea with the nitrous port or wait on the AFR's and get the benefit of the thicker deck.
I still recommend o-ringing the heads like out of the old school small ford nitrous 101 dept.

i'm sure my engine builder will insist on o-ringing the block....i would never spend the money on AFR heads myself...i'd rather spend the money at a sponsor that i've done business with before, especially when it benefits this site.

I hear you on site support. Loyalty is a trait most people have forgotten. Call Brent or Brian and go with the Judson port with the nitrous manipulation. They will work good on that size motor.

Dont be surprised,The price will likely be in the AFR range with either vendor , but of course they are available.

Is o-ringing necessary on a iron block? Even if you stay below 800rwhp?

It is IMO. 4 bolts per cylinder and that much pressure could be an easy blown headgasket. Hell we do it to anything over 550 rwhp small ford blower/nitrous motors. Good insurance except instead of lifting a head you can damage a valve or piston so thats another way to look at it. But with 4 bolts per cylinder, its a no-brainer IMO.

We recently blew the new Fel Pro head gaskets right off a brand new 408 iron block first N2O pull on the dyno, pulled the heads, o-ringed em, reinstalled em with graphite gaskets and no more problems. This paticular 408 made 750 RWTQ on a 150 shot!

I am just wondering. My last forged non o-ringed 348ci motor saw over 15 pulls on a mustang dyno at around 250 hp shots and never broke a sweat.. I was about to up the shot, but I had a valvespring failure racing a motorcycle NA.
