Default Lt1 5.7 to 5.3 vortec

i have a 95 lt1 with a few mods but my mechanic has a 5.3 vortec he wats to sell me wit a tune and long tubes and its suppose to be faster than what i have would this be a smart move???

Short answer: NO

the 5.3 wont just drop in, modifications to motor mounts are required, the entire wiring harness needs to be swapped out, if the 5.3 has the truck intake manifold, that will need to be swapped out. What did that 5.3 come out of? If it came out of a truck the headers will not work, accessory drive setup probably will not work, if the 5.3 is newer that 03 the throttle body will be drive by wire which will need to be dealt with

The way i look at it you have two choices that make sense, sell your car and buy a 98+ f-body, or spend all the time, money, and frustration you would have spent trying to make the 5.3 work, on your LT1, which could be easily made faster than a basically stock 5.3

The cars are identical. We put a LS1 in a 97 firebird and everything bolted right in. Of course you need all the wiring to go with... if you had everything its a cake walk.

That 5.3 vortec is basicly an iron LS1 with a smaller bore...all the things that need swapped for it are the same as for an LS1.
