LS1 Camaro vs GTO block and head design (1st and 2nd) Hey guys. I don't know if there is a thread for this but I couldn't find it and I'm in a rush. I am building an LS1 in my school's shop and I've got everything I need so far but head bolts. I have a GTO LS1 block and pistons. Everything else is 97-02 Camaro or Corvette parts. The heads are from a 98 Camaro. I am needing to know what design head bolts I am supposed to get for it. I know the 2nd design for the GTO are equal length but since they are 1st design heads, do I buy 1st design bolts?

Most will tell you 04 and up is the all short bolts. However, I have seen an 04 GTO LS6 block that had the 2 long bolts on the middle row. You have to measure the depth of the holes to be 100% for sure.
