One question?

You have a 104 lid and a 100maf but you're only running a 226/230 cam? Why not Pat's 234/242 or 238/242? Just curious, nothing more.
Ha yea no kidding. The valve covers did come out way better than I thought they would.

When he spec'd out my cam I already had the afr heads milled to 62cc and the .40 cometic gaskets. It's as big as I can go before risking piston to valve clearance issues.

The valve covers did come out nice, I cant decide on wrinkle black or red though...

How did you come up with 7.375 for the push rods? Did you measure for it?

Thanks

Pat also suggested 7.375s. Although I will be measuring to be sure that is correct.

Those sound about right. My 205s are 63cc, and with the Cometics, Im running 7.4s with stock LS1 lifters. Interested in seeing your numbers once shes all put back together!

LS6 valley cover installed (thanks for the suggestion Hanzy98LS1), along with new knock sensors and harness.

Why did you replace the knock sensors? I was wondering if I should replace mine...how much were they?

Also, what's the purpose for using the LS6 valley cover?

Thanks

Water tends to get down in there where the knock sensors are. One was completely rusted. So I decided to go ahead and replace both since everything is torn down. I paid like $40 each for the sensors. The ls6 cover gets rid of the the external pcv system on the ls1. Suppose to help with oil consumption as well.

Ah, mine look great except for one. The little white part that holds the connector was somewhat brittle and cracked at the top out rim, but it didn't affect the way the connector connects to the sensor so I reused them.

As for the LS6 valley cover, guess that doesn't matter for me because I plan on running a breather filter in the valve cover.

Very nice build, look forward to seeing what it does.

What made you choose the AFR 205 over milled and ported 243s or TFS 205s or another head? I'm going to be looking at a good set of heads in the next 6 months and 243s are a lot cheaper than others for some good performance.

I just prefer the AFRs. I personally think they are the best head for my build. I've had these on my want list since 2001.

Great choice...Ive never looked back ever since I had the first 205s installed back in 2004.....just power everywhere..crisp throttle response and all I have is a baby cam 224/228@114. Can only imagine the power you will put down with the custom Pat cam!

Sweet! I'd be happy with 460.

460+ seems reasonable through a 6 speed. Good luck with this, I'll be watching for results.
