Default Mail order tunes?... Worth it?

Like the title states i was thinking about getting a mail order tune until i can get dyno tuned because as of late theres quite a long wait to get dyno tuned here. Now what i was thinking is get the mail order tune because im excited to get the car on the road for spring time. Is it worth it to get the mail order tune til i can get dyno tuned or should i just wait and get the car towed to the dyno shop to get dyno tuned?

EDIT: the car is full bolts ons cam only setup (aggressive cam and big stall)

I would wait and get it to the dyno, A mail in order tune is nice if you have minor bolt ons only like intake manifold, exhaust, headers, stall etc and you need stuff tuned out that is causing the SES light to turn on and there isnt a local tuner that can do the job.

well basically the only change from my last dyno tune is the cam. I know an aggresive cam can really throw things off though.

My vote is go to the dyno and get it tuned if you dont plan on doing anything else drastic to it for a while. Squeeze every last drop of hp out of that ls1.

A mail order tune should allow you to drive the car temperarily before getting the dyno tune. I wouldn't push it too hard without the dyno tune though.

Since my gears were installed I got a frost mail order tune..It was def. worth it...
car responds, shifts twice as good, overall driveabilty went up dramatically from stock..

When headers go in I'll dyno tune though....

Justin-Why would you get a mail order tune in michigan? We have a great tuner here and he is close to you.

Dyno's are the only way to go. If your only means is a mail, then go with Frost.

i think i would rather just save my money for a tow to the dyno shop rather than get a more expensive mail order tune just to turn around and get it dyno tuned. From what everyone is saying that would probably be the way to go and save a little cash

how old is your setup? If it is new, I would hold off on dyno tuning it now. Buy a mail order tune and wait to break in your parts, then get it tuned. You don't want to break anything from doing hard dyno pulls.

90% of mail order tunes seem to be all Speed Density. It would be very difficult to dial in the MAF via the mail.
For the $$ involved in a mail order tune, I would just invest in the dyno tune and get it spot on.

I know with my mail order with frost...my car responds twice as good as stock...seems to perform better. For 167$ shipped...better than stock!!! Hard to say that it "SUCKS" when it helps...I will get it dyno tunned soon...but mail order is not a bad thing.
